Fashionistas get "Fashion Week". Foodies get "Food and Wine" Fests". Football fans get "Super Bowl. And I get Awards Season!

Each awards season means getting a bunch of "For Your Consideration" DVDs that show up on your doorstep so you can properly vote for the films in time for the awards!

I'll be giving you my 5 cents about each of the movies I watch (even the ones that seem violent and gut wrenching) - it's a tough job but someone's got to do it. :)

If you've read the book, you know the story. But unless you were privy to this screening, you are still missing out.

Something Borrowed--with Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, and John Krasinski-- is a movie based on the book written by Emily Giffin. The book is typical; but the movie was just RAD!

Kate Hudson was perfectly the selfish and fun loving Darcy, while Ginnifer nailed her role as a friend caught between love and friendship. (Spoiler alert:)
It sounds kind of shady, right; rooting for the girl who slept with her best friend's boyfriend. But seriously, don't we all know a girl or two with layers of selfishness that we'd like to see finally NOT get the guy.

Even so, the two actresses bring you into a genuine friendship, forcing you to really feel torn and concerned about this really complicated situation. But this movie isn't a sob story, there are lots of funny parts especially when it comes to Krasinski. He is so amazing.

I can't say enough positive about this movie. The truth is I heart it, and can't wait until it's out in theaters. I expect that if you're a read-the-book-before-the-movie type person, that you'll want to pick up the book for reference. But, if you don't want the plot ruined, save your B&N giftcard and wait for the movie--its accurately depicts the book.

If you're at all a history buff or bemused by Opus Dei, There Be Dragons might be the movie for you.

This movie is still listed as being in "post-production" on IMDB, our group being the first audience of the film selected to give our opinions.

The movie, about two best friends torn apart by war and religion, is set to be released in March 2011 and is beautifully laden with adorning cinematography and effective costume design. The movie stars the lovely Rodrigo Santoro, Olga Kurylenko, and Wes Bentley, and Charlie Cox. That's all I can say for now, but keep your eye out for this next year.
